New Testament. Originally a place name - the village outside Jerusalem where Jesus stayed during Holy Week before going on to the Crucifixion. It's Hebrew name means ‘House of Dates’. Name is often given in honour of Mary of Bethany, sister to Martha and Lazarus.

BERTHA
Erika Bertha Klitz 1922 - ?
Latin version of a Germanic name, a short form of various compound girls’ names containing the element' berht' meaning famous (cognate with the English 'bright'). It existed in England before the Conquest and was reinforced by Norman use, but as a modern given name it is a 19th Century reintroduction from Germany.
